|Government|Established 2017Shri Lal Bahadur Shastri Government Medical College & Hospital, Ner Chowk, Mandi, Himachal Pradesh is a public medical institution. It was established in 2009 and handed over to the Himachal Pradesh Government in 2016. The college has come into service from May 2017, with its first batch of 100 students and started patient services in October 2018. It is affiliated with Atal Medical and Research University (AMRU) since 2021. The campus is spread over 23 acres of land in Balh valley, which is 120 km from Shimla and 180 km from Chandigarh and lies on the eastern side of National Highway 154. It has lots of modern infrastructure: college and hospital blocks, an 800-seat auditorium, a library, guest house, gymnasium, an indoor sports court, student and staff hostels, canteens, and residential flats. The hospital has an approved bed strength of 500, which includes Intensive, Cardiac, and Pediatric Care Units, ten modern modular Operation Theatres, laboratories, a Blood Centre, Dialysis Unit, Advanced Diagnostic Centre, and automated laundry and sterilization facilities. The medical college provides undergraduate (MBBS) and postgraduate (MD) courses in Microbiology and Pharmacology, and DNB courses in Anesthesiology, Medicine, Orthopedics, Pediatrics, and Surgery. The undergraduate program admits 120 students every year, and currently, there are 560 students. The institution has 86 faculty members, of whom 19 are Professors, and 92 residents, who are supported by 314 staff nurses and other support staff.
