NEIGRIHMS is a premier national institution with the mission of promoting advanced medical education and providing tertiary medical care to the people of the eight states in the North Eastern region. For the academic session 2026, the college offers 50 MBBS seats under a particular seat matrix: 18 for the North East Open category, which is available to all eight states in the NE region; 9 for the Meghalaya State Quota; and 8 for the All India Quota. The institute offers a wide range of postgraduate (MD/MS) as well as super-specialty (DM/MCh) programs. The campus is a huge medical complex with a 594-bed teaching hospital that is expected to increase to over 800 beds with the establishment of the new Regional Cancer Centre and Trauma Centre. The institute is known for its high standards of medical practice and low fees compared to other medical institutions. The MBBS course fee is just ₹47,600 annually. NEIGRIHMS is known for its research output as well as its “Centre of Excellence” in various fields like Cardiology and Neurology.
