AIIMS Madurai (All India Institute of Medical Sciences Madurai) is one of the new AIIMS institutions established by the Government of India under the Pradhan Mantri Swasthya Suraksha Yojana (PMSSY). It is located at Thoppur in Madurai district, Tamil Nadu and aims to improve advanced medical education and healthcare services in southern India. The institute provides high-quality medical education, research opportunities, and specialized healthcare facilities similar to other AIIMS institutions across the country.

AIIMS Madurai offers MBBS programs and is gradually expanding postgraduate courses and super-specialty departments. The institute focuses on modern medical training, research in clinical and biomedical sciences, and patient-centered healthcare services.

The campus is being developed with modern academic buildings, laboratories, lecture halls, a central library, hostels for students and residents, and a large teaching hospital. Once fully operational, the hospital will provide advanced diagnostic services, specialty clinics, emergency care, and super-specialty treatment.

The institute plays an important role in improving healthcare access in Tamil Nadu and nearby regions by providing affordable treatment and training highly skilled medical professionals.
